Does your Chihuahua dig?

As it gets closer to 8pm... Peanut starts. Her nightly dig. Does your chihuahua dig a hole every night... as if to make their bed? Peanut does it every evening. We were told that in Mexico where chihuahuas originated they dig a hole in the dirt to get cool. It is supposed to be part of their breed. We are interested to hear if your chi digs or not. CeCe does dig, but it is not something she has to do. Peanut MUST dig before she lays down for the evening.

She seems to do it more once we take her dog pajamas off. Maybe she is cold?

A spooktakular Yappy Hour

This time of year is so much fun with the four legged furry friends.
We were lucky enough to attend a spooktacular yappy hour in La Jolla California at the Brewhouse. It was a fundraiser for a local animal rescue. So much fun. There were free dog clothes handed out by Pure Country Pet Boutique

Here is a picture of CeCe and Peanut dressed up in their dog halloween costumes.

CeCe was Mickey Mouse and Peanut was Minnie Mouse. With the dog costumes from Pure Country of course.

Favorite post of the week chihuahua meetup and dog beds

We have had so much fun this week. Meeting new friends, taking the chihuahuas out for halloween events. The highlight of our week was connecting with Nikki from ObsessiveChihuahuaDisorder.com
She is so sweet and her doggies Manny, Chico and Bebe are so adorable. I love her blog. I really hope that you readers check her out. She definately wins favorite post of the week. She was even on the martha stewart show this week!

On Sunday we went to a chihuahua meetup. The girls had fun. Unfortunately our camera battery died in the car. But we got cute pictures of them in the car on the way.

All in all we met a lot of fun people. The girls were a little ovewhelmed. I don't think we have ever seen that many chihuahuas in one place before! If you are interested in a chihuahua meetup you can go to http://www.meetup.com they have them for other breeds as well. We belong to 3 meetup groups, 2 of them are just for small dogs and the one is for chihuahuas.

Lastly we are trying to figure out if we should market our dog beds. Peanut lives in hers. It is a sack that zips shut or opens flat. It is thick fleece on the inside and denim on the outside. You can see she loves them! We can hardly get her to come out!

You know we have always been the best place to go for chihuahua clothes Now we want to hear from you. Do you think we should make the dog beds? We also have one with pink and brown polka dots. I made these a few years back for peanut and have thought about offering them a lot, since I cannot find any that are this good on the market.

How to keep your small dog warm this winter

We hear it all the time. Do dogs really need dog clothes? What do people mean by toy dog clothes? Ok, so let us explain this for all of you out there that just don't understand. Small dogs have a very small amount of blood in their system. Which makes it very easy for them to get hypothermia. Small dog clothes are necessary for dogs that actually do need a 2nd coat.

So what do we mean by small dogs? Well for starters: Yorkshire Terriers, Maltese, Dachund, Chinese Crested, Affenpinscher, Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Pug, Pekingese, Miniature Pinscher are just a few. There are so many to list.

Do they have to have Designer Dog Clothes? Of course not. There is nothing that says they HAVE to cost a fortune. However if the owner chooses to, then who are we to say it is wrong? A dog coat is a dog coat. Just as we as people buy all different prices and brands, there is nothing saying we can't do the same for the dogs that need them. Who decides where owners buy dogs clothes?

I understand how people constantly roll their eyes or scoff at the extra fluff and pink we tend to add. Who cares? Why can't they wear cute dog clothes? If they need to be kept warm is there some law out there that says they have to be plain and ugly? NO! I think for the most part owners that have girl dog's want pink dog clothes. Boy dog owners want something more manly like this dog sweatshirt.

Bottom line is, there are so many people out there that just need to complain about something. We personally think affordable dog clothes are more realistic. But hey, if you have money to spend on the expensive stuff just for the name, then go for it. We think it is all about quality dog clothes. You can get great fancy dog clothes with the same quality for a fraction of the cost.
